आई हूँ अकेली साँझ साँझीके कुसुम लेंन भलौ मिल गयौ तू जात घर गायलै ॥ आयौ घनघोर मेह सूझत नहीं कछु गेह चुंदरी चटक रंग नीरतें बचाय लै ॥१॥ चपला चमक चकचोंधी ते डरत हों ऐरे निरमोही अंग संग क्यों न लगाय लै ॥ कहावत हो सुजान कीजिये पै न मान यही है सयान कारी कामरी उठाय लै ॥२॥

आई हूँ अकेली साँझ साँझीके कुसुम लेंन भलौ मिल गयौ तू जात घर गायलै ॥
आयौ घनघोर मेह सूझत नहीं कछु गेह चुंदरी चटक रंग नीरतें बचाय लै ॥१॥
“I have come alone this evening to gather flowers for Sanjhi. How fortunate that I met You as You were going home with the cows! A dense rainstorm has come, and I can no longer see my way home; protect my brightly coloured chunari from the rain.” ॥१॥

चपला चमक चकचोंधी ते डरत हों ऐरे निरमोही अंग संग क्यों न लगाय लै ॥
कहावत हो सुजान कीजिये पै न मान यही है सयान कारी कामरी उठाय लै ॥२॥
“The dazzling flashes of lightning frighten me. O Nirmohi, why do You not hold me close to You? You are called Sujan—then act accordingly and do not refuse me. This alone is wisdom: lift Your dark kamari and shelter me beneath it.” ॥२॥

aaee hoon akelee saanjh saanjheeke kusum lenn bhalau mil gayau too jaat ghar gaayalai ||
aayau ghanaghor meh soojhat naheen kachhu geh chundaree chatak rang neeraten bachaay lai ||1||

chapalaa chamak chakachondhee te darat hon aire niramohee ang sang kyon na lagaay lai ||
kahaavat ho sujaan keejiye pai na maan yahee hai sayaan kaaree kaamaree uthaay lai ||2||
