अंधियारें घर स्याम रहे दूर ॥ अबहीं मैं देखे नंदनंदन चरित्र भयोमन ही मनजूर ॥१॥ पुनपुनचक्रित होत अपने जियकैंसेहै यह बात ॥ मटुकी केढिंग बैठ रहे हरि करी आपनी घात ॥२॥ सकलजीव जलथल के स्वामी चेंटीदईउपाय ॥ सूरस्याम तब देख ग्वालिनी भुज पकरेतबआय ॥३॥

अंधियारें घर स्याम रहे दूर ॥ अबहीं मैं देखे नंदनंदन चरित्र भयोमन ही मनजूर ॥१॥
Shyam was hiding away in a dark part of the house. The cowherd woman thought, “I have just seen Nandnandan!” His playful mischief had delighted her heart. ॥१॥

पुनपुनचक्रित होत अपने जियकैंसेहै यह बात ॥ मटुकी केढिंग बैठ रहे हरि करी आपनी घात ॥२॥
Again and again, she wondered in amazement, “How can this be?” Meanwhile, Hari sat beside the butter pot, waiting for a chance to carry out His plan. ॥२॥

सकलजीव जलथल के स्वामी चेंटीदईउपाय ॥ सूरस्याम तब देख ग्वालिनी भुज पकरेतबआय ॥३॥
The Lord of all living beings on land and in water used a trick as a means to carry out His plan. Surdas says that the cowherd woman then saw Shyam, came towards Him, and caught Him by the arm. ॥३॥

abaheen main dekhe Nand-nandan charitr bhayoman hee manajoor ||1||

punapunachakrit hot apne jiyakainsehai yah baat ||
matukee kedhing baith rahe hari karee aapanee ghaat ||2||

sakalajeev jalathal ke svaamee chenteedaeeupaay ||
soorasyaam tab dekh gvaalinee bhuj pakaretabaaay ||3||
