Look, dear friend, behold the youthful divine Couple! Shyam and His fair beloved are enjoying loving and playful pastimes in the garden groves. Together, They appear like a beautiful pair of moons, one dark and one fair. ॥१॥

Their resting place resembles the vast sky, with little shining spots scattered here and there in all directions, like stars and planets. The colourful garments appear like clouds with edges of many beautiful colours. ॥२॥

कंठपर करधार कबहूं करत आनन और ॥ मानों सोमसरोज छायो वैरी बंधु निहारे ॥३॥
Sometimes They place Their arms around each other, and sometimes They turn Their faces in different directions. The scene resembles the moon and the lotus, with their beautiful faces turned towards each other. ॥३॥

रच्यो व्रजपरिचार झरन प्रेमसुधारसरोर ॥ घटत बढत नवरस षोडस प्रकट रजनी भोर ॥४॥
The attendants of Vraj have arranged beautiful fountains, flowing like streams of the nectar of divine love. The sweetness of Their ever-fresh pastimes increases and decreases like the sixteen phases of the moon, as night gives way to dawn. ॥४॥

The darkness of the three worlds has disappeared, and two radiant moons, one dark and one fair, have appeared. Says Suraj, my eyes, like the chakor birds that gaze upon the moon, continue drinking in Their beauty, yet are never fully satisfied. ॥५॥
