जाको मन लाग्यो गोपालसोंताहि और कैसें भावेहो ॥ लेकर मीन दूधमें राखोजलविन सचुनहीं पावेहो ॥१॥ ज्यों सूरारणघूम चलतहे पीर नकाहूजनावे ॥ ज्योंगूंगो गुरखायरहें तहेंसुखस्वाद नहि बतावे ॥२॥ जैसेंसरिता मिली सींधुमेउलटपरवाहनआवे ॥ जैंसें सूर कमलमुख निरखत चितईतउतनडुलावे ॥३॥

जाको मन लाग्यो | Jako Man Lagyo

जाको मन लाग्यो गोपालसोंताहि और कैसें भावेहो ॥  
लेकर मीन दूधमें राखोजलविन सचुनहीं पावेहो ॥१॥
One whose heart is attached to Gopal—how can anything else please them? Even if a fish is placed in milk, without water it cannot find true comfort. ॥१॥

ज्यों सूरारणघूम चलतहे पीर नकाहूजनावे ॥  
ज्योंगूंगो गुरखायरहें तहेंसुखस्वाद नहि बतावे ॥२॥
Just as a brave warrior moves about the battlefield without telling anyone of his pain, and just as a mute person eating jaggery cannot describe its sweet taste, so this inner feeling cannot be expressed. ॥२॥

जैसेंसरिता मिली सींधुमेउलटपरवाहनआवे ॥  
जैंसें सूर कमलमुख निरखत चितईतउतनडुलावे ॥३॥
Just as a river, once it has joined the ocean, does not flow back again, so, says Sur, on beholding Gopal’s lotus-face, the heart no longer turns here and there. ॥३॥

jaako man laagyo gopaalasontaahi aur kaisen bhaaveho ||
lekar meen doodhamen raakhojalavin sachunaheen paaveho ||1||

jyon sooraaranaghoom chalatahe peer nakaahoojanaave ||
jyongoongo gurakhaayarahen tahensukhasvaad nahi bataave ||2||

jaisensaritaa milee seendhumeulataparavaahanaaave ||
jainsen soor kamalamukh nirakhat chitaeetautanadulaave ||3||
