जपत स्याम तेरे गुण बैठे कदम्ब की छैयां ॥ उन तो विनती बहुत कर पठई तू जो करत है नैयां ॥१॥ नेंक जो दृष्टि परत नकरखी वह छवि तेरे नैनन महियां ॥ सूरदास प्रभु गिरिधर बोली चली है टेक परी बहियां ॥२॥

जपत स्याम तेरे गुण बैठे कदम्ब की छैयां ॥ उन तो विनती बहुत कर पठई तू जो करत है नैयां ॥१॥
Shyam sits beneath the kadamba tree, continually praising your virtues. He has sent me with many earnest pleas, yet you keep saying no. ॥१॥

नेंक जो दृष्टि परत नकरखी वह छवि तेरे नैनन महियां ॥ सूरदास प्रभु गिरिधर बोली चली है टेक परी बहियां ॥२॥
With even a brief glimpse, his beautiful form would dwell within your eyes. Surdas says: she spoke and set off to Lord Giridhar, leaning upon her companion’s arm. ॥२॥
