कहौ तौ माखन लाऊँ धरते । जाके काज लकुटिया लीनी डारत नाँहिन करते ॥१॥ देखि यशोदा बदन कमल की शोभा बाढ़ी डरते । ज्यों जलसुत शशि समै सँकुच निश प्रफुलित नाँहिन सरते ॥२॥ कोमल गात उलूखल उकसित निकसत गिरा नगरते । सूरदास धीरज धरि गोविंद उठउ न धरनी परते ॥३॥

कहौ तौ माखन | Kahau Tau Makhan

कहौ तौ माखन लाऊँ धरते ।
जाके काज लकुटिया लीनी डारत नाँहिन करते ॥१॥
Tell me, shall I bring butter and place it before You? For the sake of which you took up that little stick—why do you not now put it down? ॥१॥

देखि यशोदा बदन कमल की शोभा बाढ़ी डरते ।
ज्यों जलसुत शशि समै सँकुच निश प्रफुलित नाँहिन सरते ॥२॥
Yashoda, look! The beauty of His lotus-face has become all the more striking in His fear. Like a lotus that closes at moonrise, it has shrunk and no longer blossoms in the night. ॥२॥

कोमल गात उलूखल उकसित निकसत गिरा नगरते ।
सूरदास धीरज धरि गोविंद उठउ न धरनी परते ॥३॥
His tender body is pressed against the mortar, and words scarcely emerge from His throat. Surdas says: Govind, hold patience; rise, do not fall upon the ground ॥३॥

kahau tau maakhan laaoon dharate |
jaake kaaj lakutiyaa leenee daarat naanhin karate ||1||

dekhi Yashodaa badan kamal kee shobhaa baarhee darate |
jyon jalasut shashi samai sankuch nish praphulit naanhin sarate ||2||

komal gaat ulookhal ukasit nikasat giraa nagarate |
Soordaas dheeraj dhari Govind uthau na dharanee parate ||3||
