करवट लई प्रथम नंदनंदन । ताकों महरि महोत्सव मानत भवन लिपायौ चंदन ॥१॥ बोलीं सकल घोषकी नारी तिनकौ कियौ बंदन । मंगल गीत गवावत हरखत हँसत कछू मुख मंदन ॥२॥ यह विधि भई घड़ी द्वै चारिक तब कुँवर उठि जागे । भूलि गई संभ्रममें सुतकों कछु एक रोमन लागे ॥३॥ दई लात गिरि गयौ शकट धँसि तब ही सवै उठि दौरे । विस्मय भये विलोकत नैनन भले से कछु बोरे ॥४॥ लिये उठाय कुँवर व्रजरानी रहसि कंठ लपटाई । प्रेम बिबस सब आपुन सँभारत परमानंद बलि जाई ॥५॥

करवट लई प्रथम नंदनंदन ।
ताकों महरि महोत्सव मानत भवन लिपायौ चंदन ॥१॥
Nandanandan turned over for the first time. To celebrate this, His mother held a great festival and had the house anointed with sandalwood. ॥१॥

बोलीं सकल घोषकी नारी तिनकौ कियौ बंदन ।
मंगल गीत गवावत हरखत हँसत कछू मुख मंदन ॥२॥
She invited all the women of the cowherd settlement and welcomed them with respect. Rejoicing, she had auspicious songs sung, while a gentle smile played upon her face. ॥२॥

यह विधि भई घड़ी द्वै चारिक तब कुँवर उठि जागे ।
भूलि गई संभ्रममें सुतकों कछु एक रोमन लागे ॥३॥
In this way, two or four gharis passed, and then the young child awoke. Amid the bustle, she had forgotten her son for a little while, and He began to cry. ॥३॥

दई लात गिरि गयौ शकट धँसि तब ही सवै उठि दौरे ।
विस्मय भये विलोकत नैनन भले से कछु बोरे ॥४॥
He gave a kick, and the cart fell down and collapsed. At once everyone rose and came running. Gazing upon it with their own eyes, they were filled with wonder and became somewhat bewildered. ॥४॥

लिये उठाय कुँवर व्रजरानी रहसि कंठ लपटाई ।
प्रेम बिबस सब आपुन सँभारत परमानंद बलि जाई ॥५॥
Vrajarani lifted the young child into her arms and joyfully clasped Him to her neck. Overcome with love, everyone composed themselves, while Paramanand offers himself in devotion. ॥५॥

karavat laee pratham Nand-nandan |
taakon mahari mahotsav maanat bhavan lipaayau chandan ||1||

boleen sakal ghoshakee naaree tinakau kiyau bandan |
mangal geet gavaavat harakhat hansat kachhoo mukh mandan ||2||

yah vidhi bhaee gharee dvai chaarik tab kunvar uthi jaage |
bhooli gaee sambhramamen sutakon kachhu ek roman laage ||3||

daee laat giri gayau shakat dhansi tab hee savai uthi daure |
vismay bhaye vilokat nainan bhale se kachhu bore ||4||

liye uthaay kunvar vrajaraanee rahasi kanth lapataaee |
prem bibas sab aapun sanbhaarat paramaanand bali jaaee ||5||
