लागत बूंद कटारी पियाबिन ॥ छिन भीतर छिन बाहिर आवत छिनमें चढत अटारी ॥१॥ दादुर मोर पपैया बोले कोयल कुजें कारी ॥ सूरदास प्रभु तिहारे मिलेबिन दुःख व्याप्यो मोहि भारी ॥२॥

लागत बूंद कटारी पियाबिन ॥ छिन भीतर छिन बाहिर आवत छिनमें चढत अटारी ॥१॥
Without Piya, the falling raindrops feel like sharp arrows. One moment I go inside, the next I come outside, and in another moment I climb up to the terrace. ॥१॥

दादुर मोर पपैया बोले कोयल कुजें कारी ॥ सूरदास प्रभु तिहारे मिलेबिन दुःख व्याप्यो मोहि भारी ॥२॥
The frogs, peacocks, and papiha birds call out, while the dark cuckoo sings. Surdas says: Prabhu, without meeting You, I am overcome by deep sorrow. ॥२॥

chhin bheetar chhin baahir aavat chhinamen chadhat ataaree ||1||

daadur mor papaiyaa bole koyal kujen kaaree ||
