लरकाई में जोबनकी छबि देखो सुंदर नयनन भरभर ॥ बिथुरी अलक बदन छबि राजत सुरत केलि मानो सीख दई हर ॥१॥ गंड चखोडापर चख बिंदुला चिह्न किये मानो चुंबन करकर ॥ नेन सलोने भ्रमर भमत मानो ललित गिरा राजत अति तोतर ॥२॥ आंगन डोलत फिरत महागज लेत सखी लरकारे भुजन भर ॥ सूरस्याम सब समे महारस देत लाला पावत सुख नागर ॥३॥

लरकाई में जोबनकी छबि देखो सुंदर नयनन भरभर ॥ बिथुरी अलक बदन छबि राजत सुरत केलि मानो सीख दई हर ॥१॥ 
Even in His childhood, the beauty of youth can be seen. Gaze upon Him to your heart’s content. Loose curls adorn His lovely face, as though He has already learned the ways of charming playfulness. ॥१॥

गंड चखोडापर चख बिंदुला चिह्न किये मानो चुंबन करकर ॥ नेन सलोने भ्रमर भमत मानो ललित गिरा राजत अति तोतर ॥२॥ 
The little marks upon His round cheeks look as though they were made by many loving kisses. His beautiful eyes seem like wandering bees, and His sweet, charming voice is filled with innocent baby talk. ॥२॥

आंगन डोलत फिरत महागज लेत सखी लरकारे भुजन भर ॥ सूरस्याम सब समे महारस देत लाला पावत सुख नागर ॥३॥ 
He wanders through the courtyard with the majestic gait of a great elephant, while the sakhis lovingly call Him and take Him into their arms. Surdas says: Little Shyam gives immense joy at every moment, and the loving ones find great happiness in Him. ॥३॥

larakaaee men jobanakee chhabi dekho sundar nayanan bharabhar ||
bithuree alak badan chhabi raajat surat keli maano seekh daee har ||1||

gand chakhodaapar chakh bindulaa chihn kiye maano chumban karakar ||
nen salone bhramar bhamat maano lalit giraa raajat ati totar ||2||

aangan dolat phirat mahaagaj let sakhee larakaare bhujan bhar ||
soorasyaam sab same mahaaras det laalaa paavat sukh naagar ||3||
