माथे बने मोरके चंदवा अरु घुंघचिनके हार हिये । पीतांबरकी फेंट बांधे सुमन सदल बने धातुके रंग अंग अंग चित्र किये ॥१॥ सावन समय संध्या घन घन वन अरु इन्द्र धनुष लिए । 'सूर' ससि उदै दामिनी भई मानों बरखत प्रेम पीयूष पिये ॥२॥

माथे बने मोरके चंदवा अरु घुंघचिनके हार हिये । पीतांबरकी फेंट बांधे सुमन सदल बने धातुके रंग अंग अंग चित्र किये ॥१॥
Upon His forehead is a peacock-feather ornament, and a garland of gunja beads rests upon His heart. He has tied a Pitambar sash; flowers with their leaves adorn Him, and every limb is beautifully decorated with colored mineral designs. ॥१॥

सावन समय संध्या घन घन वन अरु इन्द्र धनुष लिए । 'सूर' ससि उदै दामिनी भई मानों बरखत प्रेम पीयूष पिये ॥२॥
It is an evening in the month of Savan, with dense clouds over the forest and a rainbow in the sky. Sur says: the moon has risen and lightning flashes, as though the very nectar of love were being showered down. ॥२॥

maathe bane morake chandavaa aru ghunghachinake haar hiye |
peetaambarakee phent baandhe suman sadal bane dhaatuke rang ang ang chitr kiye ||1||

saavan samay sandhyaa ghan ghan van aru indr dhanush lie |
'soor' sasi udai daaminee bhaee maanon barakhat prem peeyoosh piye ||2||
