मील पाच सात निकसी दधि बेचन बीच मीले नंद नंदनरी॥ मुखचार तंबोल बड़ी अँखियाँ अलके भँवरे मन फंदनरी ॥१॥ मृदु बोलत बेन गरुर भरे ऊर सुन्दर सोरज चंद नरी ॥ तब मांगत दान सबै ठठकी मुख बाद रच्यो दंदनरी ॥ चलकेन सके ईतते ऊतते अटक्यो मन नैनन बंदनरी ॥२॥ लख के ब्रजाधीश स्नेह ब़ढ्यौ अत गावत हें गुण छंदनरी ॥३॥

मील पाच सात निकसी दधि बेचन बीच मीले नंद नंदनरी॥
Five or seven of us set out together to sell curd, and along the way we met Nandanandan.

मुखचार तंबोल बड़ी अँखियाँ अलके भँवरे मन फंदनरी ॥१॥
Betel graces His lovely mouth, His eyes are large, and His curling locks are like black bees—a snare for the heart. ॥१॥

मृदु बोलत बेन गरुर भरे ऊर सुन्दर सोरज चंद नरी ॥
He speaks gentle words, His heart filled with proud confidence; His beauty is like the sun and moon.

तब मांगत दान सबै ठठकी मुख बाद रच्यो दंदनरी ॥
चलकेन सके ईतते ऊतते अटक्यो मन नैनन बंदनरी ॥२॥
Then He asks for daan; we all stop short and begin a playful quarrel with Him. We can move neither this way nor that—our hearts are caught, bound by His eyes. ॥२॥

लख के ब्रजाधीश स्नेह ब़ढ्यौ अत गावत हें गुण छंदनरी ॥३॥
Beholding Brajadhish, our love increases greatly, and we sing His virtues in song. ॥३॥

## Transliteration

meel paach saat nikasee dadhi bechan beech meele Nand nandanaree ||
mukhachaar tambol baree ankhiyaan alake bhanvare man phandanaree ||1||

mridu bolat ben garur bhare oor sundar soraj chand naree ||
tab maangat daan sabai thathakee mukh baad rachyo dandanaree ||
chalaken sake eetate ootate atakyo man nainan bandanaree ||2||

lakh ke brajaadheesh sneh badhyau at gaavat hen gun chhandanaree ||3||
