## English meaning

Murali Dhuni Bhaiavanamen

Raga Gori)

The sound of the flute arose in the forest, and Bihari Lal appeared beautifully there. Hearing it, the maidens of Vraj came out from their homes and joyfully went together toward Him. ॥

One young maiden, newly coloured with love, was being restrained by her mother. But how can a swelling river be stopped when she thirsts for Hari’s darshan? ॥

Another could not leave the house, though her love for Hari was very great. Like a serpent leaving behind its slough, her heart had gone forth while her body remained at home. ॥

As sunlight becomes one with the sun, so they became absorbed in Lal. The dark-hued One is an ocean of beauty, and the eyes of the maidens of Vraj are like fish within it. ॥

How can their condition be fully described? They were wholly coloured in Shyam’s love. Shri Krishna’s form became like a lamp, and they were like moths flying again and again toward it. ॥

The trees, creepers, and ponds were all filled with the fragrance of flowers. Lotus buds opened, and the bees became active as the sun’s light arose. ॥

Bhagavan Hit Ramray says: Prabhu shines there together with the sakhis, like a dark rain-cloud surrounded by flashes of lightning, while the peacock-feather crown adds its beauty. ॥७॥
