श्रीगंगा जगतारण को आई ॥ भगीरथ तपस्या कीनी शिवले सीस चढाई ॥१॥ पापी दुष्ट अजामिल गणिका पतित परम गति पाई ॥ परम पुनीत प्रीत ब्रह्मादिक वेदव्यास मिल गाई ॥२ ॥ नाम लेत तुम ध्यान धरतहें तारत वार न लाई ॥ विप्र गदाधर भारद्वाज कुल केवल गंगा सहाई ॥३ ॥

श्रीगंगा जगतारण को आई ॥ भगीरथ तपस्या कीनी शिवले सीस चढाई ॥१॥
Shri Ganga came to carry the world across. Bhagirath performed tapasya, and Shiva took her upon His head. ॥1॥

पापी दुष्ट अजामिल गणिका पतित परम गति पाई ॥ परम पुनीत प्रीत ब्रह्मादिक वेदव्यास मिल गाई ॥२ ॥
Sinners, the wicked, Ajamila, the courtesan, and the fallen attained the supreme state. Brahma and others, with Vedavyas, lovingly sang of her as supremely pure. ॥2॥

नाम लेत तुम ध्यान धरतहें तारत वार न लाई ॥ विप्र गदाधर भारद्वाज कुल केवल गंगा सहाई ॥३ ॥
Taking your name and holding meditation on you, you carry one across without delay. For the Brahmin Gadadhar of the Bharadvaj lineage, only Ganga is the helper. ॥3॥

bhageerath tapasyaa keenee shivale sees chadhaaee ||1||

paapee dusht ajaamil ganikaa patit param gati paaee ||
param puneet preet brahmaadik vedavyaas mil gaaee ||2||

naam let tum dhyaan dharatahen taarat vaar na laaee ||
vipr gadaadhar bhaaradvaaj kul keval gangaa sahaaee ||3||
