तनक प्याय देरी पानी यह मिस गयो वाके गेह ॥ समज सोच भर लाई जल अचवावन को ओक ढीली करि फेर वाईको मुख चितयो तब ग्वालन मुसकानी ॥१॥ वे जल वेसेंहू डार्यो फेर जल भरि लाई हों अचवाय न जानो बोली मधुरी सी बानी । चतुर बिहारी तुम प्यासे हो तो पानी पियो नातर पांओ धारीये रावरी प्यास मैं जानी ॥२॥

तनक प्याय देरी पानी यह मिस गयो वाके गेह ॥ समज सोच भर लाई जल अचवावन को ओक ढीली करि फेर वाईको मुख चितयो तब ग्वालन मुसकानी ॥१॥\
Using the excuse of offering Him a little water to drink, she went to His house. She thoughtfully filled her hand with water for Him to rinse His mouth. As she slowly loosened her cupped palm and looked at His face again, the young milkmaid smiled. ॥१॥

वे जल वेसेंहू डार्यो फेर जल भरि लाई हों अचवाय न जानो बोली मधुरी सी बानी । चतुर बिहारी तुम प्यासे हो तो पानी पियो नातर पांओ धारीये रावरी प्यास मैं जानी ॥२॥\
She let that water fall and brought another handful of water. But He did not seem to know how to rinse His mouth. In her sweet voice, she said, “O Chatur Bihari, if You are thirsty, then drink the water; otherwise, please rest Your feet here. I understand Your thirst.” ॥२॥
