यमुना देवी कोन भलाई ॥ नाम रूप गुन लहरि जू को न्यारी अपनी चाल चलाई ॥१॥ उजर देस कीयो भ्राता को तुम परसत उत कोउ न जाई ॥ जे तन तज तेरे तट तात तरुन पर गेल चलाई ॥२॥ मुग्ध वधूं कु करे दूतपनो अधम नरु कों आनि मिलाई ॥ आपुन स्याम आन उजल करी तात तपति निज सीतल ताई ॥३॥ जल कों छल करी अनल अधम कुं पहे सुनि कें कोऊ न पत्याई ॥ यद्यपि पछिपात पतितन को तदपी 'गदाधर' पीय मन भाई ॥४॥

यमुना देवी कोन भलाई ॥ नाम रूप गुन लहरि जू को न्यारी अपनी चाल चलाई ॥१॥
O Devi Yamuna, how can Your goodness be described? Your name, form, virtues, and waves are all unique, and Your course is entirely Your own. ॥१॥

उजर देस कीयो भ्राता को तुम परसत उत कोउ न जाई ॥ जे तन तज तेरे तट तात तरुन पर गेल चलाई ॥२॥
Your brother has made his realm desolate, for whoever touches You does not go there. Those who leave their bodies upon Your bank, O Mother, are led onward by another path. ॥२॥

मुग्ध वधूं कु करे दूतपनो अधम नरु कों आनि मिलाई ॥ आपुन स्याम आन उजल करी तात तपति निज सीतल ताई ॥३॥
You act as a messenger for the innocent young bride and bring even the lowly man to meet her. Though dark Yourself, You make others radiant, and with Your own coolness You soothe the burning heat. ॥३॥

जल कों छल करी अनल अधम कुं पहे सुनि कें कोऊ न पत्याई ॥ यद्यपि पछिपात पतितन को तदपी 'गदाधर' पीय मन भाई ॥४॥
Taking the guise of water, You subdue even the fire; hearing this, who would believe it? Though You show special favor to the fallen, Gadadhar says: even so, You are dear to Piya’s heart. ॥४॥

naam roop gun lahari joo ko nyaaree apnee chaal chalaaee ||1||

ujar des keeyo bhraataa ko tum parasat ut kou na jaaee ||
je tan taj tere tat taat tarun par gel chalaaee ||2||

mugdh vadhoon ku kare dootapano adham naru kon aani milaaee ||
aapun syaam aan ujal karee taat tapati nij seetal taaee ||3||

jal kon chhal karee anal adham kun pahe suni ken kooo na patyaaee ||
yadyapi pachhipaat patitan ko tadapee 'gadaadhar' peey man bhaaee ||4||
