युवती आवत देखे स्याम ॥ द्रुमकी ओट रहे हरिआपन यमुनातट गई बाम ॥१॥ जलहिलोरे गागरभर नागर जबहीं सीसउठायो ॥ घरकोचली जाय तापाछें सिरते घट ढरकायो ॥२॥ चतुरग्वार करगह्यो स्यामको कन कलकुटिया पाई ॥ औरन सों कररहे अचगरी मोसों लगत कन्हाई ॥३॥ गागर ले हरिदेत ग्वारिनकर रीतो घट नहीं लैहों ॥ सूरस्याम यहां आनदेहोभर तबही लकुट करदैहों ॥४॥

युवती आवत देखे स्याम ॥ द्रुमकी ओट रहे हरिआपन यमुनातट गई बाम ॥१॥
Shyam sees a young woman approaching. Hari hides behind a tree as she goes to the Yamuna’s bank. ॥१॥

जलहिलोरे गागरभर नागर जबहीं सीसउठायो ॥ घरकोचली जाय तापाछें सिरते घट ढरकायो ॥२॥
She dips her pitcher into the rippling water, fills it, and lifts it onto her head. As she sets off home, the clever youth comes up behind her and tips the pitcher from her head. ॥२॥

चतुरग्वार करगह्यो स्यामको कन कलकुटिया पाई ॥ औरन सों कररहे अचगरी मोसों लगत कन्हाई ॥३॥
The clever cowherd maiden catches Shyam’s hand and seizes his golden staff. “You have been playing pranks on the others, Kanhaiya, and now you are troubling me!” ॥३॥

गागर ले हरिदेत ग्वारिनकर रीतो घट नहीं लैहों ॥ सूरस्याम यहां आनदेहोभर तबही लकुट करदैहों ॥४॥
Hari picks up the pitcher and offers it to the cowherd maiden. “I will not take an empty pot! Shyam,” says Sur, “bring it here filled with water; only then will I return the staff to your hand.” ॥४॥

drumakee ot rahe hariaapan yamunaatat gaee baam ||1||

jalahilore gaagarabhar naagar jabaheen seesauthaayo ||
gharakochalee jaay taapaachhen sirate ghat dharakaayo ||2||

chaturagvaar karagahyo syaamako kan kalakutiyaa paaee ||
auran son kararahe achagaree moson lagat Kanhaaee ||3||

gaagar le haridet gvaarinakar reeto ghat naheen laihon ||
soorasyaam yahaan aanadehobhar tabahee lakut karadaihon ||4||
