What Proofreaders Do

Proofreaders help clean and proofread kirtans before changes are reviewed and approved by an admin. Each proofreader receives their own login and access to the proofreader workspace.

We provide the original Vraj Bhasha kirtan source, so proofreaders can compare the website text against the original source.

Proofreader Workflow

1. Spell check the Vraj Bhasha kirtan text by comparing it carefully against the original kirtan source.
2. Use the provided AI prompts to translate the corrected Vraj Bhasha text into English.
3. Proofread the English translation for accuracy, clarity, and devotional sensitivity.
4. Submit the proposed changes for admin review and approval.

Proofreader edits are not published automatically. They are staged for review, and an admin approves the final version before it is added to the main kirtan collection.

Who Should Apply

You do not need to be perfect to help. A good proofreader should be sincere, detail-oriented, respectful of the tradition, and willing to compare text carefully against the original source material.

Knowledge of Vraj Bhasha, Hindi, Sanskrit-influenced devotional poetry, Pushtimarg, or Krishna-bhakti literature is very helpful. Comfort with proofreading English translations is also valuable.

Seva

Please note that proofreader work is voluntary and unpaid. This is offered as seva to help preserve and improve the kirtan collection for the Vaishnav community.

After we hear from you, we will schedule a short conversation to understand your background, interests, and comfort with the work. If it feels like a good fit, we will add you to the proofreader group and provide login access.
