MEANING
कान जगावत नंदकुमार ॥दोऊ भैया ठाडे सिंध द्वारें गावत सगरे ग्वार ॥१॥Nandakumar goes to awaken the cows. The two brothers stand at the main gateway, while all the Gopas sing together. ॥१॥नाचत फूलत करत कौतुहल आज दिवारी बडो त्योहार ॥कानलाग कछु कहतहें मोहन सावधानव्है गाय खिलार ॥२॥Dancing and rejoicing, they celebrate with delight, for today is Diwali, the great festival. Mohan comes close to the cows and softly says something to them: “Wake up and be ready to play.” ॥२॥अपने खरिक कान जगाए भानखिरक जाय कानपुकारि ॥धौरी धूमर टेर सुनतही दोरी अटा चढी सुकुमारि ॥३॥After awakening the cows in His own enclosure, Kanh goes to Bhan’s cattle enclosure and calls out. Hearing Him call “Dhauri! Dhumar!”, Sukumari quickly runs up to the rooftop terrace. ॥३॥चिते परस्पर चित चोर्यो तब निरखत छबि कछु रही न संभार ॥रसिकप्रभु पिय सब सुखसागर सहचरी वारवार बलिहार ॥४॥They gaze at one another and steal each other’s hearts; beholding each other’s beauty, They lose all awareness of everything else. Rasik Prabhu says: Piya is the ocean of every joy, and the sahacharis offer themselves to Him again and again. ॥४॥
