पाछें ललिता आगें स्यामाप्यारी ता आगें पिय मारगमें फूल बिछावत जात ॥ कठिन कली बीन करत न्यारी न्यारी प्यारी के चरण कोमल जान सकुंचत गढवेहू डरात ॥१॥
Lalita walks behind, Shyama Pyari walks ahead, and Shri Krishna walks in front of Her, scattering flowers along Her path. Knowing that His beloved’s feet are very delicate, He carefully removes every hard bud and even avoids anything that might hurt Her tender feet. ॥१॥
अरुझी लता अपनेकर निरवारत ऊँचे ले डारत द्रुम पल्लव पात ॥ सूरदासमदनमोहन पियकी आधीनताई देखत मेरे नयन सिरात ॥२॥
He clears away the tangled vines from the path and lifts the leaves and tender branches of the trees out of the way. Surdas says, seeing how completely Madan Mohan lovingly places Himself at His beloved’s service, my eyes feel completely fulfilled. ॥२॥
