चंपकली सो पाग बनाऊं, पिय के सीस बंधावन कों ॥ सेहेरो कुन्द कली को तापर दुलहिन ब्याह सधावनको ॥१॥
I will make a turban of champak buds to bind upon my beloved’s head, and over it a sehra of kunda buds for his wedding with the bride. ॥१॥
कमल पुष्प कों ललित टिपारो, मल्लकाछ डहकावन कों ॥ मुकुट चमेली की कलियन को काछनी कटि महकावन कों ॥२॥
I will make a lovely tipara headdress of lotus flowers to enhance his wrestler’s attire, and a crown of jasmine buds, with a flower wrap to bring fragrance to his waist. ॥२॥
कुलह वंधूक कुसुमन की सुरंग रंग शिशु गति तन छबि पावन कों ॥ टोपी पीत सोनजाकी धरि लाल गोद खिलावन कों ॥३॥
I will make a kulah cap of richly coloured bandhuka flowers to adorn his form in the mood of a little child. Placing a cap of yellow sonja flowers upon Lal’s head, I will hold him in my lap and play with him. ॥३॥
चंपा के कुसुमन को फेंटा, अमेठ उमेठ बतावन कों ॥ पीत दुमालो बसंत पंखुरिन भोजन भाव जतावन कों ॥४॥
I will make a headwrap of champa flowers, displaying its turns and twists, and a yellow dumala of basant flower petals to express the loving mood of serving his meal. ॥४॥
अष्ट सखी कों भेख सखा धर सब विध हित चित दीनो ॥ बनविहार यों एक समे कर, सूर मनोरथ सबको कीनो ॥५॥
The sakhas assumed the guise of the eight sakhis and devoted their hearts to pleasing him in every way. Sur says: during this woodland outing, he fulfilled everyone’s cherished wishes at once. ॥५॥
