एसेमाई चहुँदिश तें घनघोरें ॥ मानों मत्त मदनकेहाथी बलकर बंधन तोरें ॥१॥
Mother, such dense clouds have gathered from every direction, as though the mighty elephants of Madan, intoxicated with strength, had broken free from their bonds. ॥१॥
श्याम अंगपर चूँबत गंडमद वरखत थोरेथोरें ॥ धावत पवन महावतलियें मुरत न अंकुश मोरें ॥२॥
Dark moisture glistens upon their sides like the fragrant ichor of elephants, falling little by little as rain. The wind drives them onward like a mahout, yet they do not turn even under the goad. ॥२॥
बगपंगति मानों दंत डाढनतें अवधि सरोवर फोरें ॥ वनबल जल उमगि नयन मध्य कुचकंचुकी बंदतोरें ॥३॥
Rows of white herons appear like their great tusks, as though breaking through the bounds of the sky. The waters rise with force, while tears well up in the eyes and the heart can scarcely contain its distress. ॥३॥
तबतिहिं समे आन ऐरावत व्रजपतिसों करजोरें ॥ अब सुन सूरश्याम बिन यह गति गरजत गात जेसें कोरें ॥४॥
At that very moment, Airavata comes and stands before Vrajpati with folded hands. Sur says: listen—without Shyam, such is my state; the thunder makes my whole being tremble. ॥४॥

tabatihin same aan airaavat vrajapatison karajoren · ab sun soorashyaam bin yah gati garajat gaat jesen koren ॥4॥
