MEANING
आज कान्ह करि है अन्न प्रासन ।मनि कंचनके थार भराये भाँति भाँतिके वासन ॥१॥Today Kanh’s annaprashan is being performed. Jeweled golden platters have been filled, with vessels of many different kinds. ॥१॥नंदघरनी ब्रज बधू बुलाई जे सब अपनी पाँतिन।कोऊ जौनार कोऊ करै घृत पके खटरस के बहु भाँतिन ॥२॥Nanda’s wife has invited the women of Vraj, each according to her own group. Some prepare the feast, while others make many kinds of dishes of the six tastes, cooked in ghee. ॥२॥बोहोत प्रकार किये बहु बिंजन अनेक बरन मिष्टान ।अति उज्ज्वल कोमल अति सुंदर अति अद्भुत पकवान ॥३॥Many kinds of dishes and sweets of various colours have been prepared—exceedingly bright, delicate, beautiful, and wonderful delicacies. ॥३॥जसुमति नंदहि बोलि कह्यौ तब महर बुलावौ जाति।आपु गये सब गोपनके घर लै आये सब जाति ॥४॥Jasumati called Nanda and said, “Now invite the people of our community.” He himself went to the homes of all the Gopas and brought everyone with him. ॥४॥आदर करि बैठाय सबनकों भीतर गये नंदराय ।जसुमति उबटि न्हवाय कान्हकों पट भूषन पहराय ॥५॥After respectfully seating everyone, Nandarai went inside. Jasumati bathed Kanh after applying ubtan and dressed Him in fine garments and ornaments. ॥५॥बारबार मुख निरखि यशोदा पुनि पुनि लेत बलाई ।तनकसी झगुली माला मोतिन कर चूरा दुहुँ पाई ॥६॥Again and again Yashoda gazes upon His face, and again and again wards away all harm from Him. He wears a tiny jhaguli, a pearl necklace, bracelets on His hands, and ornaments on both feet. ॥६॥और जात सुत मुख जुठरायौ नंद बैठाये गोद ।महरि बुलाई बैठारी मंडली आनंद करत विनोद ॥७॥When the proper moment came to give the child His first taste of food, Nanda seated Him in his lap. The lady of the house called everyone to sit in a circle, rejoicing together in joyful festivity. ॥७॥कनिक थार भरि खीर धरी लै तापर मधु घृत नाई ।नंद लै लै हरि मुख जुठरावत नारि उठीं सब गाई ॥८॥A small platter was filled with kheer, with honey and ghee poured over it. Nanda takes a little at a time and gives Hari His first taste, while all the women rise and sing. ॥८॥खटरस के परकार जहाँ लगि लै लै अधर छुवावत ।विश्वभर जगदीश जगत गुरु परसन मुख करवावत ॥९॥One by one, they touch to His lips all the varieties of the six tastes. They lovingly feed the One who sustains the universe—the Lord of the world and Guru of the world. ॥९॥तनक तनक जल अधर पौछिकें जसुमतिपे पहाँचाये ।हरखित युवति सब लै लै मुख चूमि चूमि उर लाये ॥१०॥Giving Him a little water and wiping His lips, they return Him to Jasumati. The delighted young women take Him one by one, kiss His face again and again, and clasp Him to their hearts. ॥१०॥महरि गोप सबही मिलि बैठे पनवारे परसाये ।भोजन करत अधिक रुचि उपजावै जो जिहिं जिहिं मन भाये ॥११॥The elders and Gopas all sit together, while the servers serve them. As they eat, each takes with increasing delight whatever pleases his heart. ॥११॥यह विधि सुख बिलसत ब्रजबासी धनि गोकुल नरनारी ।नंदकुँवरकी या छवि ऊपर सूरदास बलिहारी ॥१२॥In this way the residents of Vraj revel in joy; blessed are the men and women of Gokul. Surdas offers himself in devotion to this beautiful sight of Nanda’s young son. ॥१२॥
