चंदन अरगजा ले आई बाल लाल के अंग लगावन ॥ सुगन्ध गुलाब जल तामध्य कपूर डारि अंजुली भर भर लेपत गात लागत पवन चढ़ावन ॥
A young maiden brings sandalwood and fragrant argaja paste to apply to beloved Lal. She mixes camphor into fragrant rose water and, taking handfuls of the cooling preparation, gently applies it while a breeze begins to blow.
नाना बहु भांतन के कुसुमन सों शैया रची मची सुवास बसी प्रीतम मन भावन ॥ मुरारीदास प्रभु ग्रीष्म ऋतु दाह तपत तैसेई लागि सारंग राग गावन ॥२॥
A beautiful bed is prepared with many different kinds of flowers, filling the surroundings with a delightful fragrance that pleases the Beloved’s heart. Muraridas says that, as the heat of the summer season grows intense, Raga Sarang is sung to bring cooling comfort to the Lord. ॥२॥
