MEANING
गोपालके वेध कर्णकौ कीजै ।गुरुबल तिथि बल नक्षत्र बार बल शुभ घरी बिचार लीजै ॥१॥Let Gopal’s ear-piercing ceremony be performed. Consider the strength of Jupiter, the lunar date, the constellation, and the weekday, and determine an auspicious hour. ॥१॥गणिक निपुण द्वै चारि बैठिकें मतौ बिचारयौ नीको ।मुहूरत जामें दोष रहित सुखसागर व्है जीको ॥२॥Two or four skilled astrologers sit together and carefully deliberate. They choose a muhurta free from all defects, so that the Ocean of Joy may be happy. ॥२॥दियौ मनोरथ सब सुखदाता चीते मनोरथ पाये ।नारी सीमंतनी गीत गवाये दिये भूषण मन माये ॥३॥The giver of all happiness fulfilled their desires, and they obtained the wishes cherished in their hearts. Auspicious married women were invited to sing songs, and ornaments pleasing to their hearts were given to them. ॥३॥जसुमति माय गोद लै बैठी लाल देखि मन हरखे ।शुची माता के गोद बैठिकें मूँदि श्रवन मन करखे ॥४॥Mother Jasumati sits with Lala in her lap, her heart rejoicing as she gazes upon Him. Sitting in His pure mother’s lap, He closes His ears, His heart uneasy. ॥४॥कनिक सूची लै श्रवन को दीनी बेधत बार न लागी ।बाल रुदन जब करन लग्यौ रोहिनी मात लै भागी ॥५॥Taking a little needle, they pierced His ear; it took but a moment. When the child began to cry, Mother Rohini quickly took Him in her arms. ॥५॥चुचकारत चुंबत चाँपत हिय लेहुँ बलैयाँ तेरी ।देत दान नंदराय विप्रनकों कहे परमानंद हेरी ॥She coaxes Him, kisses Him, and presses Him to her heart, saying, “Let me ward all harm away from You.” Nandarai gives gifts to the Brahmins; Paramanand beholds the scene and tells of it.
