MEANING
झूलत हिंडोरे गिरिधरनलाल । बाजे बाजत है अति रसाल ॥१॥Giridharnalal swings upon the hindora, while the musical instruments play in a most delightful manner. ॥१॥सावन फागुनको एक तार । जल बरसत जानों रंग फुहार ॥२॥Savan and Phagun seem to have become one—the falling rain appears like showers of festive colour. ॥२॥बहु मेघ जुरे भयो अंधकार । मनो अबीर गुलालकी है बहार ॥३॥Many clouds have gathered and darkness has spread, as though abir and gulal were filling the air in abundance. ॥३॥तहाँ जुवति झुलवत आय आय । दोउ मिल वसन्त मलार गाय ॥४॥There the young women come one after another to swing them, while the two together sing Vasant and Malhar. ॥४॥गरजत घन जानों गति मिलाय । चपला कर बाजत मृदंग साय ॥५॥The clouds thunder as though keeping time with the rhythm, while the flashing lightning seems to accompany the sound of the mridang. ॥५॥संग झुलत राधा नवल बाल । कबहुँक है झुलावत नंदलाल ॥६॥Young Radha swings together with him, and at times Nandlal himself gently swings her. ॥६॥ललितादिक गावेगारी रसाल । व्रजवधु हँसत दे दे कर- ताल ॥७॥Lalita and the others sing delightful songs, while the women of Vraj smile and keep rhythm by clapping their hands. ॥७॥फिर झुलवत राधा रसिक नार । तब झूलत मोहन कर सिंगार ॥८॥Then graceful Radha swings Mohan, and as he swings, his beautiful adornments sway with him. ॥८॥तहँ मुरझ पर्यो है आय मार। रति रोवत अँसुवन भई धार ॥९॥Seeing such beauty and joy, even Madan is left overwhelmed and powerless; Rati weeps, and her tears flow in a stream. ॥९॥वृन्दावन फूल्यो आसपास। कालिन्दी बहत जु अति हुलास ॥१०॥All around, Vrindavan is in full bloom, and Kalindi flows with great joy. ॥१०॥यह दरसन दीजे जानि दास। गोवरधनकी है यही आस ॥११॥Knowing me to be your das, please grant me this darshan. This alone is Govardhan’s hope. ॥११॥
