MEANING
जोलों माई हों जीवनभर जीऊं ॥ तोलों मदनगोपाल लालके पंथ न पानी पीऊं ॥१॥Mother, for as long as I live, I will not even drink water upon the path where Madan Gopal Lal goes. ॥१॥करूं न अंजन धरूं न मरकत मृगमद अंग न लाऊं ॥ असित कलेवर पटरचनारचि कंठ न पोत बनाऊं ॥२॥I will not apply kajal, wear emeralds, or place musk upon my body. I will not adorn myself in dark-colored garments, nor wear such ornaments around my neck. ॥२॥श्रवण न सुनों अलि पिकबानी नयनन घन नहीं देखों ॥ नीलकमल करगहों न कबहुं श्याम सुदृष्टि न पेखों ॥३॥I will not listen to the voices of bees or cuckoos, nor look upon dark rainclouds with my eyes. I will never hold a blue lotus in my hand, nor cast my eyes upon beautiful Shyam. ॥३॥इतनी कहेत आयगये मोहन लीये कुंवर दूतिसंग ॥ छूट गई सबे टेक मानकी निरख कुंवरके अंग ॥४॥Just as she was saying this, Mohan arrived, with the messenger-sakhi accompanying the young Prince. The moment she beheld Kunwar’s beautiful form, all her firm resolves of Maan fell away. ॥४॥कहि न सकी कछूवे तिहिं अवसर जब कर सोंकर गहि लीनों ॥ सूरदास प्रभु ललित त्रिभंगी सुरतकेलि सुख दीनों ॥५॥At that moment she could say nothing, when He gently took her hand in His. Surdas says: Prabhu, graceful in His tribhanga form, bestowed the joy of His loving lila. ॥५॥
