MEANING
खेलत वसंत गिरिधरन चंद ॥ आनंदकंद वर मनके फंद ॥ध्रु०॥Giridhar, the moon of Vraj, plays in the spring. He is the source of joy and captures the heart. ॥ध्रु०॥सोहत संग सुंदरवेनवीन ॥ वृषभान कुंवरि अतिसयप्रवीन ॥ दोऊ छविके सिंधु तहां रहतलीन ॥ ललितादि सखीनके नेनमीन ॥१॥The beautiful and fresh Vṛṣabhān Kumārī looks lovely beside Him, highly skilled in the play of spring. The two remain absorbed in an ocean of beauty, while the eyes of Lalitā and the other sakhīs are like fish gazing upon them. ॥१॥वनी मंजुकुंज जमनाकेकूल ॥ भीने नव केसरि दूकुल ॥ रंगभरत हसत दोऊ सुखकेमूल ॥ जिने देखि मिटे सब तनकी सूल ॥२॥In the beautiful groves on the bank of the Yamunā, their new garments are soaked with saffron. The two fill each other with color and laugh, being the very source of joy; seeing them, all bodily pain disappears. ॥२॥धिधिकिट धिधिकिट बाजतमृदंग ॥ डिडि डमक डिमक डफ मिलेहे संग ॥ ठठ ठनन ठनन करेतालरंग ॥ गग गनन गनन बाजेउपंग ॥३॥The mṛdaṅga sounds, “dhidhikiṭ, dhidhikiṭ.” The daf sounds “ḍiḍi, ḍamaka, ḍimaka” along with it. The tāla sounds “ṭhaṭha, ṭhanana, ṭhanana,” and the upaṅga sounds “gaga, ganana, ganana.” ॥३॥गावतअलाप तननननन ॥ निंदित कोकिल सम ननननन ॥ रंगभरत बलहिकरि झिनि ननननन ॥ तबभरेरीनेन इननननननन ॥४॥They sing musical ālāps with flowing notes. Their singing surpasses even the cuckoo’s sweet call. As they fill one another with color, they sing with graceful, delicate notes; the tāla and other instruments resound together. ॥४॥रंग भरत परस्पर करतहास ॥ नहीं बरनि जात रसना विलास ॥ सब बंधीहें जुगल हित प्रेमपास ॥ बलिहारि गयो जहां कृष्णदास ॥५॥They fill each other with color and laugh together. The joy of their rasa cannot be described by words. Everyone is bound by the bond of love for the divine pair. Kṛṣṇadās offers himself completely to that place. ॥५॥
