MEANING
आये भोर जिस कहाँ रहे रंगभीनेहो ॥भली किनी भले आये प्रातः बाल रंगभीनेहो ॥१॥“You have come at dawn—where have You been, immersed in rasa? It is good that You have come; welcome this morning, O Lala, immersed in rasa.” ॥१॥बाकी पाग पेंच ऊरझे प्रीत ॥भई कामगड़ जीत लाल ॥२॥The folds of His tilted pag are tangled, revealing the signs of loving joy. Lala appears as though He has returned victorious from the fortress of love. ॥२॥तिलक रेख लगी बेदी भाल ॥चिन्ह कुसुम ऊर माल लाल ॥३॥The line of His tilak remains upon His beautiful forehead, while signs of flowers and a garland adorn Lala’s chest. ॥३॥मुख अलके रति रसकि केल ॥बिधु सिंगार कि बेल लाल ॥४॥Curls fall around His face, bearing the signs of joyful play. Lala appears like the moon entwined by a beautiful flowering creeper. ॥४॥छके नेन अल सात जात ॥ठगे त्रिया कहो कहो बात लाल ॥५॥His eyes are filled with rasa and move languidly. The women, captivated by Him, ask again and again, “Lala, tell us—what happened?” ॥५॥अधर अरुणता ताही दईं ॥जावक छाप आप लईं लाल ॥६॥His lips have given away some of their redness, while Lala Himself bears a crimson mark. ॥६॥बोले मुख मृदु सुगंद बात ॥गावत मथुप चहु पास लाल ॥७॥From His lips come gentle, sweet words, while bees hum all around Lala. ॥७॥नंद जसोदा सुख बिलसो ॥व्रजाधीस सहाय बसो लाल ॥८॥May Nanda and Jasoda rejoice in happiness. O Lala, Vrajadhish, remain ever as our protector. ॥८॥
