MEANING
भजन बिन जीवत जैसें प्रेत ॥ मनमलीन घरघर प्रति डोलत उदर भरनके हेत ॥१॥ Without bhajan, one lives like a wandering spirit. With an impure mind, one goes from house to house merely to fill the stomach. ॥१॥कबहूँ पावत पापको पैसा गाड धूरमें देत ॥ सेवा नहीं गोविंदचंदकी भवन नीलको खेत ॥२॥ At times one earns money through sinful means and buries it in the dust. There is no seva of Govindchand; the household has become like a field of indigo. ॥२॥मुख कटुवचन करत परनिंदा संतनकुं दुखदेत ॥ सूरदास बहुत कहाकहूँ डुबे कुटुंबसमेत ॥३॥ The mouth speaks harsh words and slanders others, causing pain to saints. Surdas says: what more can I say? Such a person sinks together with the whole family. ॥३॥
