MEANING
मनरे तू भूल्यो जन्म गमावे ॥ खबर न परी तोको सिरऊपर काल सदा मंडरावे ॥१॥ O mind, you have lost your way and are wasting this human birth. You do not realize that death is always hovering over your head. ॥१॥खानपान अटक्यो निशिवासर जिभ्यालाड लडावे ॥ गृहसुखदेख फिरत फूल्योसो सुपने मन भटकावे ॥२॥ Day and night you remain caught up in eating and drinking, always indulging the tongue. Delighting in the comforts of home, you go about full of pride, while your mind wanders in false hopes. ॥२॥कै तूं छांड जायगो इनको कै तोहि यही छुडावें ॥ ज्यों तोता सेवर पर बैठ्यो हाथ कछू नहि आवे ॥३॥ Either you will have to leave all these things, or they will leave you. You will be like a parrot waiting on the semal tree for its fruit, only to find that nothing useful comes from it. ॥३॥मेरी मेरी करत बावरे आयुष वृथा गमावे ॥ हरिहि तू विसार विषयसुख विष्टा चितमन भावे ॥५॥ O foolish mind, saying “mine, mine,” you waste your life in vain. Forgetting Hari, your heart and mind take pleasure in worldly enjoyments, which are like filth. ॥५॥गिरिधरलाल सकल सुख दाता सुन पुराण सब गावे ॥ सूरदास वल्लभ उरअपने चरणकमल चितलावे ॥५॥ Giridhar Lal is the giver of every joy—listen, all the Puranas sing of this. Surdas says: keep Vallabh within your heart and fix your mind upon His lotus feet. ॥५॥
