MEANING
गोपालमाई खेलत हैं चौगान ॥ ब्रजकुमार बालक संगलीने वृंदावनमयदान ॥१॥“O mother, Gopal is playing chaugan (a ball game played on horseback)! He has gathered the young boys of Vraj and is playing with them in the open fields of Vrindavan.” ॥१॥चंचलबाजीनचावत आवत होडलगाबतयान ॥ सबहीहस्तलेगेंदचलावत करतवावाकी आन ॥२॥They come riding their lively horses, making them prance and racing against one another. Each holds a ball in his hand, sending it into play and showing his skill. ॥२॥करतनशंक निशंकमहाबल हरत नृपतिकुलमान ॥ परमानंददास को ठाकुर गुण आनंदनिधान ॥३॥They play fearlessly, displaying such great strength and skill that even the pride of royal families is humbled. Parmananddas says, “My Thakurji is a treasure-house of virtues and joy.” ॥३॥
