MEANING
हो लक्ष्मण सीता कौनें हरी ॥“O Lakshman, who has carried Sita away?”यह जु मढी बैरिन भई हम कौं कंचन मृग जो छरी ॥१॥“This very hut has become my enemy, and so too that golden deer which deceived me.” ॥१॥जो पै सीता होय मढ़ी में झाँकत द्वार खरी ॥सूनी मढ़ी देखि रघुनंदन आवत नयन भरी ॥२॥“If Sita were in the hut, She would be standing at the doorway looking out for me.” Seeing the hut empty, Raghunandan’s eyes fill with tears. ॥२॥एक दुख हतो पिता दशरथकौ दूजौ सीय करी ॥“One sorrow was already mine—the loss of Father Dasharath; now a second has come through Sita.”सूरदास प्रभु कहत भ्रातसौ बनमें बिपति परी ॥३॥Surdas says: the Lord tells His brother, “Calamity has befallen us in the forest.” ॥३॥
