When Hanumanji leapt across the ocean to bring back news of Maa Janaki, he went to confront the ten-headed Ravana and bring joy to his Lord. ॥ The mountain from which he sprang upward with his mighty leap sank ten yojanas deep into the earth. ॥ The earth sank toward Patala beneath his weight, awakening Shesha; even Shesha’s head was pressed against the back of the cosmic tortoise. ॥ His face is ruddy, his teeth gleaming white, and his body immense and powerful. Flying from north to south, he appears as though Mount Meru itself were soaring through the sky. ॥ By taking the Name of his Prabhu, one crosses the ocean of worldly existence; what wonder, then, that Hanumanji leapt across an ocean a hundred yojanas wide? ॥ Such is the glory of Shri Ramachandra’s feet, whose fame fills the world. Nandadas says: beholding Hanumanji’s wondrous feat, devas, humans, and sages were lost in amazement. ॥६॥
