MEANING
जसोदा तेरौ कठिन हियौरी माई ।तनक दधि के कारनें तू बाँधे ऊखल ॥१॥Yashoda, O mother, how hard your heart is! For the sake of a little curd, you have tied Him to the mortar. ॥१॥जे मूर्ति जल थल में व्यापक सुपनें न देत दिखाई ।ते मूर्ति तें अपने अँगना चुटकी दै दै नचाई ॥२॥He whose divine form pervades water and land, yet cannot be seen even in a dream—that very One you make dance in your own courtyard with a snap of your fingers. ॥२॥जे मूर्ति देवन मुनि दुर्लभ निगम नेति करि गाई ।ताहीते तू गर्व भुलानी घर बैठें निधि पाई ॥३॥He whose divine form is difficult even for the devas and sages to attain, and whom the Vedas proclaim as “not this, not this”—having found that very treasure while sitting at home, you have forgotten yourself in pride. ॥३॥बारंबार सजल दल लोचन चितये कुंवर कन्हाई ।कहा कहूँ जो छुड़ावत ही हों तें मोहि सोंह दिवाई ॥४॥Again and again young Kanhai gazes at me with His petal-like eyes filled with tears. What can I say? When I try to free Him, He makes me swear not to. ॥४॥सूर पालक असुरन उर सालक त्रिभुवन देत भुलाई।सूरदास प्रभु सब विधि लायक हितसों कछु न बस्याई ॥५॥Sur says: He is the protector of His own and the tormentor of the demons’ hearts, the One who makes the three worlds forget themselves. Surdas says: the Lord is capable in every way, yet through love He has no power of His own. ॥५॥
