MEANING
केसरी उपरना ओढ़ें केसर की धौती ॥ केसर को तिलक सोहे श्रीविट्ठल छबि जौती ॥१॥He wears a saffron upper cloth and a saffron dhoti. A saffron tilak adorns Shri Viṭṭhal, making His beautiful form shine. ॥१॥खट मुद्रा सोभित माला उर आभूषन भूषित सब अंग ॥ नख सिख निरखति श्रीवल्लभ सुत लजित भयों अनंग ॥२॥A garland and the six marks adorn His chest, and every part of His body is adorned with ornaments. Seeing Shri Vallabh’s son from head to toe, even Ananga becomes ashamed. ॥२॥आयों ऋतुराज परम रमनीक अति सुखकारी फागुन मास ॥ अति सुखदाइक कृष्ण सप्तमी व्रजपति पूरी आस ॥३॥The king of seasons has come, and the month of Phāgun is exceedingly beautiful and joyful. Kṛṣṇa Saptamī is greatly pleasing; the Lord of Vraj fulfills every wish. ॥३॥आजु बडो दिन महा महोच्छव करत श्रीविट्ठलनाथ ॥ गिरधर आदि प्रभृति सप्त सुत निजजन कीए सनाथ ॥४॥Today is a great and auspicious day; Shri Viṭṭhalnāth celebrates a grand festival. Beginning with Giridhar, He makes His seven sons and their people feel protected and cared for. ॥४॥कीए सुगंध फूलेल उबटनो कीए जु केसरि स्नान ॥ कीए सिंगार मनोहर सब अँग पीत बसन परिधान ॥५॥He is bathed with fragrant flower perfume and ubtan, and given a saffron bath. He is beautifully adorned, with every part of His body dressed in yellow garments. ॥५॥नख सिख विविधि भाँति आभूषन सोभित गिरिधर लाल ॥ कुलह केसरी सीस विराजीति मृगमद तिलक सुभाल ॥६॥Giridhar Lāl is beautifully adorned with many kinds of ornaments from head to toe. A saffron turban rests upon His head, and a beautiful musk tilak adorns His forehead. ॥६॥खट रस विंजन विविधि भाँति के कीए पकवान रसाल ॥ आदर सौं जिमावति भावति गोकुल के प्रतिपाल ॥७॥Delicious foods of the six tastes and many kinds of dishes have been prepared. With great affection and respect, they feed the protector of Gokul. ॥७॥दे बीरा छिरकति चोवा चंदन कुँमकुम अबीर गुलाल ॥ ज्यों गुलाब कुसुम अति सोभित, सोभित सुंदर भाल ॥८॥Giving Him betel, they sprinkle chovā, sandalwood, kuṅkum, abīr, and gulāl. His beautiful forehead shines greatly, like a rose flower. ॥८॥गावति गुन गंधर्व गलित मन बाजति सरस मृदंग ॥ ताल रबाब झांझि ढफ महुवरि राजत सरस सुधंग ॥९॥The Gandharvas sing His praises, their minds absorbed in Him. The sweet mṛdaṅga is played, together with tāla, rabāb, jhāñjh, daf, and mahuvar, all producing beautiful music. ॥९॥अति आदर सौं करि न्योछावर आनंद उर न समाई ॥ आरति वारत श्रीमुख उपर 'गोविंद' बलि बलि जाई ॥१०॥With great respect, they offer themselves completely; the joy in their hearts cannot be contained. Performing ārati before His beautiful face, Govind offers himself again and again. ॥१०॥
