खेलत वसंत श्रीनंदलाल ॥ भरे रंग सब ग्वालवाल ॥ध्रु०॥Shri Nandalāl is playing in the spring, and all the cowherd boys are covered with colors. ॥ध्रु०॥जूथजूथ सब नवलवाल ॥ सजिसमाज उडवत गुलाल ॥ गावत पंचम सरस राग ॥ रूपसील भरी सब सुहाग ॥१॥All the young boys have gathered in groups. They gather together and throw gulāl. They sing sweet melodies in the Pañcama note, and all the beautiful women are adorned with beauty and good fortune. ॥१॥नवकेशरि भाजन भराय ॥ चंदनसों मृगमद मिलाय ॥ बहुगुणाल छिरकें फुलेल ॥ कुंबर कुंबरि रंग वढीकेलि ॥२॥They fill vessels with fresh saffron and mix musk with sandalwood. They sprinkle fragrant flower perfume and many colors. The young prince and princess play together with these colors. ॥२॥लालहिं ललना भरें धाय ॥ मुखरोरी मांडें बनाय ॥ भलेंजुकहें तारी बजाय ॥ भले त्रियन वस परेहो आय ॥३॥The young women run toward Lāl and cover Him with color. They decorate His face with colored powder. They playfully praise Him, clapping their hands, and the women come together around Him. ॥३॥अंगअंग रंग सब सुहाय ॥ पियलोचन निरखें अधाय ॥ विलसत सुख बडभाग वाम ॥ सुखी भये तहां सूरस्याम ॥४॥Every part of His body looks beautiful with color. Their yellowish eyes gaze at Him until they are fully satisfied. Great joy shines there through good fortune; Sūr’s Śyām is happy there. ॥४॥
