MEANING
नमो देवी यमुने नमो देवी यमुने हर कृष्ण मिलनांतरायं ॥ निजनाथ मार्ग दायिनि कुमारी काम पूरिके कुरु भक्तिरायं ॥ध्रु. ॥Salutations to you, O Devi Yamuna, salutations to you, O Devi Yamuna; remove the obstacle to meeting Hari Krishna. O Kumari, who grants the path to your own Nath and fulfills desires, bestow the supreme state of bhakti. ॥ध्रु. ॥मधुपकुल कलित कमलावलीव्यप देश धारित श्रीकृष्ण युत भक्त हृदये ॥ सततमति शयित हरिभावना जाततत्सारूप्य गदित हृदये ॥१॥Your rows of lotuses, adorned by swarms of bees, appear as though they bear Shri Krishna together with His devotees within your heart. Constantly absorbed in the contemplation of Hari, your heart is said to have attained His very likeness. ॥१॥निजकूल भव विविध तरु कुसुमयुत नीर शोभया विलसदलि वृन्दे ॥ स्मारयसि गोपीवृन्द पूजित सरसमीशव पुरानंद कंदे ॥२॥Along your own banks, your waters shine with many kinds of flowering trees and playful swarms of bees. You bring to mind that beautiful lake worshipped by the groups of gopis, the abode of the Lord and the source of complete bliss. ॥२॥उपरिवलदमल कमला रुणद्युतिरेणु परिमलित जल भटेणामुना ॥ व्रज युवति कुचकुंभ कुंकुमारुणमुरः स्मारयसिमार पितुर धुना ॥३॥Your waters are fragrant with the pollen of spotless lotuses blooming upon your surface, glowing with a reddish radiance. You now remind one of the chest of the Father of Kamadeva, reddened by the kumkum from the bosoms of the young women of Vraj. ॥३॥अधिरजनि हरि विहृतिभीक्षितुं कुवलयाभिधसुभग नयनान्युशति तनुषे ॥ नयनयुगमल्पमिति बहुतराणि च तानि रसिक तानिधि तयाकुरुषे ॥४॥At night, desiring to behold Hari’s loving pastimes, you manifest many beautiful eyes in the form of blue lotuses. As though a pair of eyes were too few, O treasure of rasa, you make them countless. ॥४॥रजनिजा गरज नितं राग रंजित नयन पंकजै रहनि हरिमीक्षसे ॥ मकरंद भव मिषेणा नंदपूरिता सततमिह हर्षाश्रुमुंचसे ॥५॥Awake throughout the night, with your lotus-eyes colored by love, you continually behold Hari. Filled with bliss, you constantly shed tears of joy here in the form of flowing nectar. ॥५॥तटगतानेकशुक सारिका मुनिगण स्तुत विविध गुण सीधु सागरे ॥ संगता सततमिह भक्तजन तापहृति राजसे रासरस सागरे ॥६॥On your banks are many parrots and sarikas, while hosts of sages praise your many virtues; you are an ocean of nectar. Ever joined with the devotees and removing their afflictions, you shine as an ocean of rasa. ॥६॥रतिभर श्रमजलोदित कमल परिमल व्रजयुवतिजन विहृति मोदे ॥ ताटंकचलन सुनिरस्त संगीतयुत मद मुदित मधुपकृत विनोदे ॥७॥You rejoice in the pastimes of the young women of Vraj, amid the fragrance of lotuses moistened by the perspiration born of the fullness of love. With the movement of their earrings and the sweetness of music, delighted intoxicated bees create playful joy. ॥७॥निज व्रजजनावनायत्त गोवर्धने राधिका हृदयगतकर कमले ॥ रतिमतिशयित रस विठुलस्याशु कुरुवेणु निनदाव्हन सरले ॥८॥O simple-hearted one, quickly bring about, through the call of the flute, the heightened rasa of Vitthal’s love for Radhika, whose lotus-hand rests within His heart, and for Govardhan, devoted to protecting His own people of Vraj. ॥८॥
