MEANING
नौमिके दिन नोबत बाजे कौशल्या सुत जायो ॥सातघरी दिन उदित भयोहे सब सखियन मंगल गायो ॥१॥On the day of Navami, the naubat resounds—Kaushalya has given birth to a son. When seven gharis of the day had passed after sunrise, all the sakhis sang auspicious songs. ॥१॥कांप्यो सिंधु कंगूरा ढरियो लंका अगम जनायो ॥सब लंकामें शोक पयोंहे राजदेव गृहआयो ॥२॥The ocean trembled and the battlements shook; even inaccessible Lanka felt the signs. Sorrow spread throughout Lanka, for the divine King had appeared in His home. ॥२॥दशरथ मन आनंद भयोहे वंश हमारे गृह आयो ॥विप्र बुलाय शोधना कीनी अभे भंडार लुटायो ॥३॥Dasharath’s heart filled with joy: “The heir of our lineage has come into our home.” He called the Brahmins and had the prescribed purification rites performed, then freely opened his treasures in charity. ॥३॥कंचनके बहु कलश बनाये मोतिनचौक पुरायो ॥घरी एक निगम सोच हियभाख्यो रामचन्द्र गृहआयो ॥४॥Many golden kalashas were arranged and pearl chaukas were prepared. For a moment, the Vedas themselves seemed to ponder within their hearts: “Ramchandra has come into this home.” ॥४॥गृहगृहतें सब सखी बुलाई आनंद मंगल गायो ॥दशरथराय दोऊ आंगनमें आदर कर बैठायो ॥५॥Sakhis were called from every home, and they sang joyful, auspicious songs. King Dasharath respectfully welcomed them and seated them in both courtyards. ॥५॥दशरथ उठ बजार पधारे सारी सुरंग बस्यायो ॥जो जाके जैसो मनभायो तेसो ताहि पहरायो ॥६॥Dasharath arose and went to the bazaar, having beautiful colourful saris brought. Whatever style pleased each person, he had that very garment given to them to wear. ॥६॥पाट पटंबर खासाझीनो जेसो जाहि सुहायो ॥परमानंददास कहालों बरनों तीनलोक यश छायो ॥७॥Fine silk, patambar, and delicate khas garments were given, each according to what suited them. Paramananddas says: how far can I describe it? His glory has spread throughout the three worlds. ॥७॥
