MEANING
रुचिर रमित रचि रासं ॥कुसुमित कानन सम द्रुमवेली निजकृत उडुप प्रकाश ॥१॥The beautiful Raas is joyfully arranged. The forest is in full bloom, filled with trees and flowering creepers, illuminated by the moon’s own light. ॥१॥युवती युगल युगल प्रति माधौ करत विनोद विलासं ॥वेणु मृदंग मंजीर किंकिणी क्वणित मधुर शब्दमृदुहासं ॥२॥Among each pair of young women, Madhav joyfully delights in the Raas. The venu, mridang, manjira, and little bells resound sweetly, mingling with gentle laughter. ॥२॥यमुनातीर भीर खगमृगकी मंद समीर सुवासं ॥बरषत कुसुम इंद्रसुर धावत शंकर त्यजतकैलासं ॥३॥On the bank of the Yamuna, birds and deer gather as a gentle, fragrant breeze blows. Indra and the devas shower flowers, while Shankar leaves Kailash and hastens there. ॥३॥निरख नयन छबि मुरझ्यौ मन्मथ लोचन पद्मपलाशं ॥विष्णुदास प्रभु गिरिधर क्रीड़त कथाकथित शुक व्यासं ॥४॥Beholding the beauty of His lotus-petal eyes, even Manmatha’s beauty fades. Vishnudas says: Prabhu Giridhar delights in this Leela, as recounted by Shuk and Vyas. ॥४॥
