MEANING
सखीरी सांवन दूल्हे आयो ॥ चार मास के लग्न लिखाये बदरन अंबर छायो ॥१॥O sakhi, the bridegroom of Savan has arrived. The wedding season of the four months has been proclaimed, and clouds have covered the sky. ॥१॥बिजुरी चमंके बगुला बराती कोयल शब्द सुनायो ॥ दादुर मोर पपैया बोले इन्द्र निशान बजायो ॥२॥Lightning flashes, the herons appear like members of the wedding procession, and the cuckoo sounds its call. Frogs, peacocks, and papiha birds cry out, while Indra’s drums resound. ॥२॥हरी हरी भुमिपर इन्द्र वधूसी रंग बिछोना बिछायो ॥ सूरदास प्रभु तिहारे मिलनकुं सखियन मंगल गायो ॥३॥Upon the fresh green earth, a colorful covering has been spread like that of Indra’s bride. Surdas says: O Prabhu, the sakhis sing auspicious songs to celebrate Your coming together with Pyari. ॥३॥
