MEANING
शुक्ल पक्ष और शुक्ल एकादसी हरि प्रबोध दिन आयो ॥चंदन भवन लिपाय जसोदा मोतिन चौक पुरायो ॥१ ॥The bright fortnight and its Shukla Ekadashi have arrived—the day of awakening Hari. Yashoda has the house anointed with sandalwood and decorates the chauk with pearls. ॥१॥मंडप रच्यो समार ईख सों बंदनवार बंधाई ॥चहूंओर थरिकै दीपावलि व्रजनारी मिलि मंगल गाई ॥२ ॥A beautiful mandap is prepared with sugarcane, and festive torans are hung. Rows of lamps shine on every side, while the women of Vraj gather and sing auspicious songs. ॥२॥पंचामृत विधि सालिग्रामे राजा नंद न्हवावे ॥नौतन तूल रचे पाटंबर प्रेम सहित पहिरावे ॥३ ॥Following the proper rite, Raja Nanda bathes Shaligram with Panchamrit. With love, he dresses Him in newly prepared, soft and beautiful garments. ॥३॥वेद पुरान मंत्र मरियादा विधि जगदीस जगावे ॥कंद मूल फल पानादिक लै बहुविधि भोग धरावे ॥४ ॥Following the prescribed rites, with mantras from the Vedas and Puranas, they awaken Jagadish. They bring roots, fruits, paan, and many other kinds of bhog and place them before Him. ॥४॥लखि व्रजनारि जाय घर अपने भवन सकल विधि कीनों ॥जसुमति सुत पधराय प्रेम सों भक्त मांगि सब लीनों ॥५ ॥Seeing this, the women of Vraj return to their own homes and make every preparation there. With love they invite Jasumati’s son into their homes, and He accepts everything His devotees offer Him. ॥५॥नंद-भवन में आय व्रजवधू चारजाम निसि जागे ॥उन उपनेह पुष्टि-रस कारन मोहन भोजन मांगे ॥६ ॥The women of Vraj come to Nanda Bhavan and remain awake through all four watches of the night. Seeing their loving affection, Mohan asks them for food, bringing them the joy of Pushti rasa. ॥६॥अपुने-अपुने गृह ते भरिकैं लावत हैं पकवान ॥व्रजभामिनी के हाथ लेत हैं देत पुष्टिरस दान ॥७ ॥From their respective homes they bring plentiful festive dishes. He accepts them from the hands of the Vraj Bhaminis and gives them the gift of Pushti rasa. ॥७॥दै बीरा आरती उतारत यह विधि चारों याम ॥श्रीविट्ठल प्रभु की कृपादृष्टि ते 'माधो' पूरन काम ॥८ ॥They offer bira and perform arati in this way throughout all four watches of the night. Madho says: through Shri Vitthal Prabhu’s gracious glance, every cherished wish is fulfilled. ॥८॥
