MEANING
व्रत धरि देवी पूजी ॥ जाके मन अभिलाष न दूजी ॥She observed a vow and worshipped the Devi, with no other desire in Her heart.कीजै नंदपुत्र पति मेरे ॥ पैहों जो अनुग्रह तेरे ॥“May Nanda’s son become my husband; through Your grace, may I attain Him.”कर अनुग्रह वर दियो जब बरस भरलों तप कियौ ॥ त्रैलोक्य सुंदर पुरुष भूषण रूप गुण नाहिन बियौ ॥After She had performed tapas for a full year, the Devi graciously granted Her the boon. He is the most beautiful in the three worlds, the ornament among men; there is no other equal to Him in beauty or virtues.इत उबटि सोल सिंगार सखियन कुँवरि चौरी जहाँ बनी ॥ जा हितके व्रत नेम संयम सोघरी विधना ठनी ॥१॥Here the sakhis apply ubtan and adorn Kunvari with the sixteen shringars beneath the wedding canopy. For the sake of Him for whom She had observed vows, disciplines, and restraints, destiny has now arranged this blessed moment. ॥१॥मुकुट रचि मौर बनायो ॥ माथें धरि हरि वर आयो ॥A beautiful wedding crown is prepared, and Hari comes as the bridegroom wearing it upon His head.तन सांवल पीत दुकूले ॥ देखतही घन दामिनी भूले ॥His body is dark and He wears a yellow silken garment; seeing Him, even the raincloud and lightning are put to shame.दामिनी घन कोटि बारों जब निहारों मुख छबि ॥ कुंडल बिराजत गंडमंडल नही शोभा शशि रवि ॥When I behold the beauty of His face, I would offer millions of rainclouds and flashes of lightning upon Him. Earrings shine beside His cheeks; even the moon and sun cannot equal their beauty.और कौन समान त्रिभुवन सकल गुण जामाहिं हैं ॥ मानों मोर नाचत संग डोलत मुकुटकी पर छांहिं हैं ॥२॥Who else in the three worlds can equal Him, in whom every virtue resides? The feathers upon His crown sway as though peacocks were dancing together. ॥२॥गोपी सब न्योतें आई ॥ मुरली धुनि पठे बुलाई ॥All the Gopis have come by invitation, summoned by the melody of the Murali.जहाँ सब मिलि मंगल गाये ॥ नव फूलनके मंडप छाये ॥There they all gather and sing auspicious songs beneath a mandap covered with fresh flowers.छायेजु फूलन कुंज मंडप पुलिनमें बेदीरची ॥ बैठेजु श्यामा स्याम वर त्रैलोककी शोभा सची ॥A flower-covered kunj-mandap has been prepared upon the riverbank, with the wedding altar arranged within it. Shyama and Shyam sit there, the true beauty of the three worlds.उत कोकिलागण करें कुलाहल इत सबें व्रजनारियां ॥ आईजु न्योंते दुहुदिशतें देत आनंद गारियां ॥३॥On one side, groups of cuckoos call joyfully; on the other, all the women of Vraj have arrived by invitation from both sides, happily singing playful wedding songs. ॥३॥रासमंडल भुज जोरी ॥ स्याम सांवरे श्रीराधागोरी ॥In the Raas Mandal, dark-hued Shyam and fair Shri Radha join hands.पाणि ग्रहण बिधिकीनी॥ तब मंडप भ्रम भांवरदीनी ॥The rite of panigrahan is performed; then They circle the mandap in the wedding rounds.दीनीजु भांवर कुंजमंडप प्रीति गांठ हृदय परी ॥ शरदनिश पूज्यौ विमल शशि निकट वृन्दा शुभघरी ॥They complete the wedding rounds within the kunj-mandap, and the knot of love is tied within Their hearts. On the Sharad night, beneath the pure and radiant moon, Vrinda stands near at that auspicious hour.गायेजु गीत पुनीत सखियन वेद रुचि मंगलध्वनी ॥ नंदसुत वृषभान तनया रासमें जोरी बनी ॥४॥The sakhis sing sacred songs, while auspicious Vedic sounds resound. In the Raas, Nanda’s son and Vrishabhan’s daughter are united as a pair. ॥४॥जहाँ मन्मथसेन वराती ॥ तहाँ द्रुम फूले नाना भांती ॥There the army of Manmatha forms the wedding procession, and the trees blossom in many varieties.सुर बंदीजन यश गाये ॥ तहां मघवा वाजित्र बजाये ॥The devas and celestial bards sing Their praises, while Maghava has musical instruments played.वाजित्र बाजे शब्द नभसुर पुष्प अंजुली बरखहीं ॥ देव व्योंम बिमान बैठे जय शब्द करके हरखहीं ॥The instruments resound, and the devas shower handfuls of flowers from the sky. Seated in celestial vimanas, the devas rejoice and cry, “Jaya! Jaya!”सूरदासहिं भयौ आनंद पूजी मनकी साधिका ॥ मदन मोहनलाल दूल्हे दुलहनि श्रीराधिका ॥५॥Surdas is filled with joy: the cherished desire of the heart has been fulfilled. Madanmohanlal is the bridegroom, and Shri Radhika is the bride. ॥५॥
