चली व्रज घर घर यह बात ॥ नंदसुत सब सखालीने चोरि माखन खाता ॥१॥This news spread from house to house throughout Vraj: “Nand's son takes all His friends along and steals butter to eat.” ॥१॥कोऊ कहत मेरे भवन भीतर अबही पैठे धाई ॥ कोऊ कहत मोहि देख छोरकें उतहीगये पराई ॥२॥One cowherd woman says, “He just came running into my house!” Another says, “When He saw me, He quickly ran away from there!” ॥२॥कोऊ कहत किहिंभांति हरिकों देखों अपने धाम ॥ हेरहेरमाखन देहों आछो खायें जितनोस्याम ॥३॥Another says, “How might I see Hari in my own home? I shall seek out the finest butter and give it to Him, so that Shyam may eat as much as He likes.” ॥३॥कोऊ कहत मैं बांधराखों को सकेनिरबार ॥ कोऊकहत मैंदेखपाऊंभर धरूं अंकवार ॥४॥One woman says, “I shall tie Him up and keep Him with me. Who could prevent me?” Another says, “If I get the chance to see Him, I shall hold Him close in my arms.” ॥४॥सूरदास प्रभुकेमिलनकारन करत बुद्धिविचार ॥ जोरकर बिधिकूँमनावत पूर्ण नंद कुमार ॥५॥Surdas says that the cowherd women think of different ways to meet the Lord. With folded hands, they pray to Brahma that Nandkumar may fulfil their wishes. ॥५॥
