MEANING
उठी प्रातही राधिका दोहनी करलाई ॥ महरि सुतासों तब कह्यो कहांचली अतुराई ॥१॥Early in the morning, Radhika gets up with a milking pot in her hand. Mother Yashoda asks her, “My dear girl, where are you going in such a hurry?” ॥१॥खिरक दुहावन जातहों तुमरीसेवकाई ॥ तुम ठकुराईन घररहो मोहि चेरीपाई ॥२॥Radhika replies, “I am going to the cowshed to get the cows milked. Let me do this work for you. You are the mistress of the house, so please stay here and let me serve you.” ॥२॥रीतीदेख दोहनी कित खोजत धाई ॥ कालगई अवेरके ह्यां उठे रिसाई ॥३॥Seeing the empty milking pot, Yashoda asks, “Why are you rushing about looking for the cows? Yesterday you went late, and they became upset.” ॥३॥गायगई सब प्यायकें प्रातही नहीं आई ॥ ताकारनमें जातहूं अतिकरत चढाई ॥४॥Radhika replies, “The cows were fed and sent away, but they have not returned this morning. That is why I am hurrying to find them.” ॥४॥यह कहि जननी सोंचलीब्रजको समुहाई ॥ सूरयाम गृहद्वारही गौ करत दुहाई ॥५॥After saying this to Mother Yashoda, Radhika sets off towards the cowherd settlement. Surdas says that Shyam is there at the doorway of the house, milking a cow. ॥५॥
