Meaning
आज गोपाल हमहींकों दैरी । देखों बदन कमल नैनन भरि पुनि तू लाल आपनौ लैरी ॥१॥
“Today, dear friend, give Gopal to me for a little while. Let me gaze to my heart’s content upon His beautiful lotus-like face, and then you may take your darling child back.” ॥१॥
अति कोमल कर चारु सरोजें अधर दशन नासा सोहैरी । लटकन शीश कंठ मणि भ्राजत मनमथ कोटि वारनै कैरी ॥२॥
“His little hands are wonderfully soft and lovely like lotuses. His lips, teeth, and nose are so beautiful! A lovely ornament hangs from His head, and a precious jewel shines around His neck. Even millions of Kamadevas, the god of beauty, would be offered in admiration of His loveliness.” ॥२॥
दिवसही निशा बिचारत हों सखी यह सुख कबहुँ न पायौ मैंरी । निगम निधान सनातन बालक भागि बड़े पायौ है तैंरी ॥३॥
“Dear friend, I think of Him day and night, yet I have never experienced the happiness of holding Him like this. You are truly blessed! By your great fortune, you have received this eternal divine Child, who is the very treasure of the Vedas.” ॥३॥
ताकौ रूप जगतके लोचन कोटि चंद रवि आलय हैरी । सूरदास बलि जाय ग्वालिनी गोकुलनाथ पूतना बैरी ॥४॥
“His beautiful form is a delight to the eyes of the whole world and is the very abode of the radiance of millions of moons and suns.” Surdas lovingly offers himself in devotion to the cowherd woman who has received Gokulnath, the destroyer of Putana, as her beloved child. ॥४॥
