MEANING
बरसानेकी नारि सबे मिल झूलन आई ॥ नखसीख सबे सिंगार राधिका परम सुहाई ॥ चंद्रावली ललिता सखी जुथ सबे जुर आय ॥ गोवरधनकी तरहटी रच्यो हिंडोरो जाय ॥ सबेमिलि देखन जैयें ॥१॥All the women of Barsana have gathered and come to swing. Radha is beautifully adorned from head to toe and looks exceedingly lovely. Chandravali, Lalita, and all the groups of sakhis have also gathered. A swing has been beautifully prepared at Tarhati of Govardhan. Everyone goes together to see it. ॥१॥कंचन मनिके खंभ हीरा डांडीजु जराये ॥ चोकी रतन जडाव मरुवे पन्नाजु लगाये ॥ तापर कलसा हेमके उपर ध्वजा फहेराय ॥ मोर पपैया पीउ पीउ करे हो कोयल शब्द सोहाय ॥ सबे मिलि देखन जैयें ॥२॥Its pillars are of gold and jewels, with diamond rods fitted into them. The seat is set with precious gems, with emeralds and other jewels adorning it. Upon it are golden vessels, and above them a flag is flying. Peacocks and papihas call out “piu, piu,” while the cuckoo’s song sounds beautiful. Everyone goes together to see it. ॥२॥दिन नागपंचमी जाने सबे व्रजवासी आये ॥ ताल मृदंग उपंग बाजे बहोभांत बजाये ॥ नागदमन इंद्रदमन मध देवदमन कहेवाय ॥ महामहोच्छव जानकेंहों दई हे भुजा दरसाय ॥ सबे मिलि देखन जइयें ॥३॥On the day of Nag Panchami, all the residents of Vraj have come. Cymbals, mridangas, and upangas are played in many different ways. He is known as Nagdaman, Indradaman, and Madhudev-daman. Knowing it to be a great festival, everyone comes together to see Him as He displays His arms. ॥३॥श्री गोवरधन के आसपास फूली द्रुमवेलि ॥ गावत व्रजकी नार सबे नागरिजु नवेली ॥ झोटादेत सुहावने हो मनमें मोद न माय ॥ यह सुख शोभा निरखकें हो सूरज बलबल जाय ॥ सबेमिल देखन जइयें ॥४॥Around Shri Govardhan, the trees and vines are in bloom. All the women of Vraj, along with the young women of the town, sing. They give delightful pushes to the swing, and the joy in their hearts cannot be contained. Seeing this happiness and beauty, Surdas repeatedly offers himself in devotion. Everyone goes together to see it. ॥४॥
