गुरके गुंजा पूआ Gurke Gunja Pua
MEANING
गुरके गुंजा पूआ सुहारी ॥गोधन पूजत व्रजकी नारी ॥१॥Beautiful offerings of gur, gunja, and pua are prepared. The women of Vraj worship the cows. ॥१॥घरघर गोमय प्रतिमा धारी ॥बाजत रुचिर पखावज थारी ॥२॥In every home, figures are made from cow dung. Pakhavajs and metal plates resound beautifully. ॥२॥गोदलियें मंगल गुण गावत ॥कमल नयनकों पांय लगावत ॥३॥Taking the little ones with them, they sing auspicious songs. They bow at the feet of the lotus-eyed One. ॥३॥हरद दही रोचनके टीके ॥यह व्रज सुरपुर लागत फीके ॥४॥Tilaks of turmeric, curd, and rochan are applied. Beside this Vraj, even the celestial realm seems pale. ॥४॥राती पीरी गाय शृंगारी ॥बोलत ग्वाल देदे करतारी ॥५॥The cows are adorned in red and yellow. The Gopas call out, “Give, give, O generous ones!” ॥५॥हरिदास गोवर्धनधारी ॥ऋतु मानत सुख वरस दीवारी ॥६॥Haridas says: Govardhandhari joyfully celebrates the season, as the happiness of Diwali pours forth. ॥६॥
