MEANING
जसोमति अपनौ लाल खिलावै प्रेम की कलोलनते लाड़ लड़ावै । उबटि मजन कर सिंगार भृकुटि मसि बिंदुका लाय जाहि गावत बेद ताहि चलनौ सिखावै ॥१॥Yashomati plays with her own child; with the playful acts of love, she fondles Him lovingly. After bathing Him with an ubtan, she adorns Him, places a black protective mark between His eyebrows, and teaches Him to walk—the One whom the Vedas sing. ॥१॥विश्वभरन शिवकौ शरन जाहि थाँमे गहे हाथ ठुमक ठुमक चलत श्याम नूपुर बजावै । मणिमय आँगन जगमगाय कदली खंभ रहे छाय साँवरी माधुरी मुरतिकी छबि कहत न आवै ॥२॥He who is the refuge of Shiva, who sustains the universe, holding His hand, walks with little, swaying steps; Shyam’s anklets resound. The jewel-filled courtyard sparkles, banana pillars cast their shade, and the beauty of the dark, sweet form cannot be described in words. ॥२॥बीजना करत गोपीजन पीत झगुली फरहरात मानों निपट नील घनमें दामिनी दुरावै । तैसेंई सोहत सखा संग खेलबेको आनँद रंग कबहुँ हंस चकोर परेवा पकरनको धावै ॥३॥The Gopis fan Him, and His yellow little garment flutters, as though lightning were hiding within a deep blue cloud. In the same way, He looks lovely enjoying the delight of playing with His companions; sometimes He runs to catch swans, chakors, and pigeons. ॥३॥कबहुँक उछंग लेत कनिया कर राखे कंठ मनिया पुनि उतार मुख निहार भूषण पट बनावै ॥४॥Sometimes she takes Him into her lap, holding Him close to her neck; then she sets Him down, gazes at His face, and arranges His ornaments and garments. ॥४॥बाललीलाकौ महासुख ब्रह्मादिक दुर्लभ भूरि भाग्य नंदघरनि बिना कौन पावै । रामराय प्रभु गिरिधरन कहा न करत हेत ऐसे गोकुलचंदकों भगवानदास गावै ॥५॥Who, apart from those in Nanda’s household, could attain the great joy of these childhood pastimes, which are difficult even for Brahma and the others to attain? Ramray says: what would the Lord, the lifter of Govardhan, not do out of love? Bhagwandas sings of this Gokul moon. ॥५॥
