MEANING
नृपति बचन यह सबनि सुनायौ ।मुहाँ चही सेनापति कीनौ शकटासुर सुनि गर्व बढ़ायौ ॥१॥The king proclaimed these words before everyone. He appointed Shakatasura as the foremost commander, and hearing this, Shakatasura swelled with pride. ॥१॥दोऊ करजोरी भयौ तब ठाड़ौ प्रभु आइसु में पाँऊँ ।ह्याँते जाय तुरतही मारों कहौ कहौ तौ जीवत लाँऊँ ॥२॥Then he stood with both hands folded and said, “My lord, if I receive your command, I shall go from here and kill Him at once—or, if you say so, I shall bring Him back alive.” ॥२॥यह सुन नृपति हरख मन कीनौ तुरतही बीरा दीनौ ।बारंबार सूर कहै ताकों आप प्रशंसा कीनौ ॥३॥Hearing this, the king rejoiced in his heart and immediately gave him the bira as a token of commission. Sur says: again and again, the king himself praised him. ॥३॥
