MEANING
शोभित सुभग नंदजूकी रानी ।अति आनंद आँगनमें बैठी गोद खिलावत सारंगपानी ॥१॥Lovely and radiant is Nandaju’s queen. Filled with great joy, she sits in the courtyard, playing with Sarangapani in her lap. ॥१॥तृणावर्तकी करी सुरति जिय पठयौ कंस असुर अभिमानी ।गरुवे भये वहीं बैठारे सहि न परै जननी अकुलानी ॥२॥The proud demon Trinavarta, sent by Kamsa, came with his purpose fixed in his heart. The child suddenly became so heavy that His mother could no longer bear His weight, and anxiously set Him down there. ॥२॥आपुन गई सदन में दौरी कछू एक काज तहाँ लपटानी ।भयौ उर महाभयानक गोकुल सकल प्रलयकौ उदयौ गोपालै जानी ॥३॥She herself hurried into the house and became occupied there with some task. A terrible fear arose in every heart throughout Gokul; Gopal knew that it seemed as though the very end of the world had come. ॥३॥महा दुष्ट लै चल्यौ अकासें बालकृष्ण यहे जिय ठानी ।चाँपी ग्रीव हरि प्राण हरे दृगन रंगत चल्यौ अधिकानी ॥४॥The wicked demon carried Balakrishna high into the sky, intent upon his purpose. Hari gripped his neck and took away his life, while the demon’s eyes grew intensely bloodshot. ॥४॥पायल सिला निरखि हरि पर्यौ उपर खेलत श्याम सुखानी ।ब्रज वनिता उपवनमें पाये लये उठाय कंठ लपटानी ॥५॥They saw Hari lying upon a broad stone slab, with Shyam happily playing upon it. The women of Vraj found Him in the grove, lifted Him up, and clasped Him to their necks. ॥५॥लाई गही चूँमत चाहति घर घर सबन बधाई मानी ।देत आभूषन बारि बारि सूर सब नारी बारि पीवत पानी ॥६॥They brought Him home, holding and kissing Him lovingly, and every household celebrated His safe return. Again and again they gave away ornaments in offering; Sur says, all the women lovingly warded away evil from Him and drank the water used in doing so. ॥६॥
